I loved listening to the auctioneers. I thought listening to them was better than the radio. In 1978 I started buying for a weekly Saturday night auction in Hillsboro. From there I worked my way up the ranks from being a buyer to set up man, then ring man, to clerking and cashiering. Ultimately, after attending Missouri Auction School, I became an Auctioneer. Now after more than 30 years in the business, I mostly concentrate on running a consignment auction twice a month in Otway with the occasional online auction in Columbus.
