In 1927, he began the weekly livestock auction in Brookville. His son, Stanley White, joined him in 1937, expanding the business to selling residential real estate and personal property estates. They also expanded with two additional livestock auctions in Walton, Kentucky and Rushville, Indiana. After his death in 1959, the company sold the Kentucky and Rushville livestock auctions, continued with the Wednesday livestock auction in Brookville, and concentrated on real estate, antique, and personal property auctions. In 1968, Dave White (the third generation) entered the business, and after graduating from the University of Kentucky married Franklin County native Paula Applegate. They continued the Wednesday livestock sale, added a miscellaneous auction, and began what has turned into a huge flea market on Wednesday morning. In 1986, they relocated to a 260 acre farm 3 miles south of Brookville on Holland Road, just off of US 52. Our flea market is every Wednesday from daylight ’til noon (400+ vendors and 6000-8000 customers). The miscellaneous auction is from 11 am- 1 pm, and the livestock auction begins at 1 pm. In addition, we also have a spring and fall consignment farm machinery auction. Our specialty is real estate auctions, and we also conduct antique and personal property auctions for individuals and estates. Jonathan White (Dave and Paula’s son), also a University of Kentucky graduate, joined the company in 2002. He is now working with the company full time after completing his Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) and Masters in Buisness Administration (MBA) degrees at the University of Kentucky. Burke Thomas from Liberty Indiana also joined the company in 2002 and began the Dutch Country Flea Market, held every Friday morning located 1 mile east of Greensfork Indiana off of US 38 (7 miles northwest of Richmond Indiana). We are a very diverse public relations company and are flexible in our marketing methods. Our specialty, of course, is the auction method of selling real estate, but with weekly contact to such a large number of customers other marketing options are available to our clients.
